Dia Mirza to help and support wildlife sanctuaries started it 10 years ago. Entering into Dia Mirza’s house from the crowded streets of Mumbai seems to be entering into a whole new world. Going from potholed streets to lush, green gardens and sounds of birds chirping appears to be entering into civilized and sound place compared to the streets of Mumbai.Dia Mirza on her social work , support Wildlife Sanctuaries

She started working with Sanctuary Asia First and Wildlife Trust of India. Recently she joined the United Nations for which she is very excited because she wanted to become a human rights lawyer of the UN in her childhood. During her journey, she picked up a lot many issues that bothered our country. Issues like bad air quality and use of plastics are the one primarily focused on.

Dia gets more involved in improving the air quality because that is connected to her mother’s health. Her mother is fighting a battle with a chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder that inspires Dia to be more interested in improving the air quality. She says that not just Delhi but cities like Lucknow, Mumbai, and Kanpur are just terrifying in terms of air quality control. Mumbai ranks 4th amongst the cities of India for the most polluted city.

Second cause that Dia focuses on is plastic. She says that when she travels for the shoot, she sees tiny villages suffering from electricity cut or some villages are not even blessed from electricity but have loads of plastics dumped in the natural environment which gets her on her nerves. She plays the role of anti-plastic person where she uses things that are made of bamboos and biodegradable products. Dia Mirza with her good thought inspires other film stars too and encourages them to use such things.
