Dia Mirza an Indian actor, model, producer, and a social worker has been using her star power to its full capacity to promote sustainable fashion and beauty. In this month’s issue, she talks about the deeper sense of purpose she found by making a positive social change and reveals tidbits from her secret beauty regimen and the decade she wishes she was born in.
The actress has gone from the wearer of the bejeweled crown to one of many sombreros. A crusader for environmental causes, last year her efforts were recognized by the United Nations when she was appointed Goodwill Ambassador for Environment for India. Whether it’s using her star power to promote sustainable fashion and beauty or her commitment to a “greener lifestyle,” Mirza is determined to influence positive social change. “Growing up, community work was an integral part of my education. I discovered early on the joys that one feels in making a difference… It gives you a deeper sense of purpose and a meaning to your existence,” she says, as she lets Vogue into her beautiful life.

Dia Mirza was born in Hyderabad on December 9, 1981. She got engaged to her longtime business partner Sahil Sangha in April 2014 and got married in October 2014 in Delhi. Dia Mirza has won the title of Miss Asia Pacific in 2000 after ranking second at the Femina Miss India 2000 contest. She is the owner of the production house Born Free Entertainment in partnership with her husband, and the production house released its first film Love Breakups Zindagi in 2011.
Dia Mirza is also known to be one of the most charitable celebrities in Bollywood. She is actively involved with Cancer Patients Aid Foundation, Spastics Society of India, PETA, United Nations’ CRY and other organizations. Dia Mirza has also worked with the Andhra Pradesh government to spread HIV awareness and prevent female foeticide. Dia Mirza along with NDTV Greenathon campaign works towards finding a solution to combat pollution in India. Additionally, Dia Mirza is also the brand ambassador of Wildlife Trust of India and also for Swachh Bharat Mission’s youth-based Swachh Saathi programme.
Recently actress has started preparation for web series Kaafir, which she has described as a “really special” project. Last seen on-screen playing a vigorous role in Sanju, Dia will soon begin shooting for Kaafir, directed by Sonam Nair and produced by Siddharth Malhotra.
