
With the worldwide outbreak of coronavirus, which got originated from Wuhan in China, the life of people across the world has come to a standstill. Globally, businesses, factories, offices, schools have shut down, movie releases got postponed, and events got canceled. The World Health Organisation (WHO) has declared a pandemic while advising people to stay at home and be safe. In India, there is a strict lockdown where malls, gyms, theatres, shopping centers have been closed indefinitely until the situation gets in control. Every news show about the disastrous impact of coronavirus on people of the world, and everyone can do little but stay indoors till everything is settled down.
With the delay in the production of movies and shooting being shut due to lockdown, several releases that were scheduled in March, April, and May have been pushed backward. While some production houses have confirmed their release dates, others are waiting to see the situation and confirm the same. Some Bollywood movies got impacted due to the pandemic.
Angrezi Medium that starred Irfan Khan and Kareena Kapoor got released a day before the lockdown in Metro cities. It stayed in theatres for a day and gathered no steam. The director Homi Adajania had no choice but to release it online. Much awaited action thriller produced by Rohit Shetty, Sooryavanshi that starred Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif with extended cameos of Ajay Devgun and Ranveer Singh has postponed its release dates to its unconfirmed date. It was predicted to be the biggest blockbuster of the first quarter of the year 2020, the change in the release date of Sooryavanshi has affected the releases of many other movies.
Sandeep or Pinky Faraar, which is constantly being pushed, had to again change its release date due to COVID-19. The movie is directed by Dibakar Banerjee and produced by Yash Raj Films starred Parineeti Chopra and Arjun Kapoor. The film was scheduled to release on March 20 but got delayed due to lockdown. The movie was the third collaboration of Parineeti and Arjun after being on screens together in Ishaaqzaade and Namaste England.
Salman Khan’s movie Radhe will also be released after the situation gets normal. The film was scheduled to release on the day of Eid, but it is likely to be postponed. It would be a Bhai-free festival for the first time.
