RIP Jagdeep Ji: Bollywood Paid Condolences to Veteran Actor


Veteran actor and comedian Jagdeep, whose real name was Syed Ishtiaq Ahmed Jafri, died at his Mumbai home on Wednesday night, at the age of 81. In this 2020, we already lost our beloved gems which include, Veteran Actor Rishi Kapoor, Irrfan Khan, Singer and composer Wajid Khan, Sushant Singh Rajput, Choreographer Saroj Khan and now Jagdeepji.


According to reports, Jagdeepji was not well for a long time. his sons, actor Javed Jaferi and producer Naved Jafri, Meezaan, and actor-comedian Johnny Lever were attended Jagdeepji’s funeral. The veteran actor played the ‘‘Soorma Bhopali’’ role in film ‘Sholay’ in 1975, which is still in the mind of the audience. He also played roles in ‘Ab Dilli Door Nahin’, ‘Munna’, ‘Aar Paar’, and ‘Do Bigha Zamin’ as the child actor. He has two sons, Javed who is an actor, and Naved who is a filmmaker.


As tribute poured in for the veteran actor on social media, many Bollywood celebrities are taking to social media to express grief over the loss of the Sholay star. Actor Anil Kapoor who worked with him in numerous films remembered him and wrote, “Jagdeep Saab was one of the greatest actors of India…I was his huge fan & was lucky enough to have worked with him in Ek Baar Kaho & many more films…he was always extremely supportive & encouraging…sending my heartfelt condolences & prayers to my friend Javed & family.”


“Heard the sad news of Jagdeep Saab’s demise. Always enjoyed watching him on screen. He brought so much joy to the audience. My deepest condolences to Javed and all members of the family. Prayers for Jagdeep Saab’s soul” Actor Ajay Devgn penned a tribute to Jagdeepji.


Famous actor and comedian Johny Lever also wrote that “My first film & the first time I ever faced the camera, was in the film #yehrishtanatoote with the legend himself #Jagdeep Bhai. We will miss you…May his soul rest in peace Our prayers & deepest condolences to the family.”


Genelia Deshmukh took to the tweeter and wrote, “RIP Jagdeep Sahab … Remember shooting with you during Life Partner and cracking up with laughter all through the scene… I consider myself extremely fortunate to have got that chance to work with you. All my condolences to the family.”


Many more celebrities, Ritesh Deshmukh, Vishal Dadlani, Anupam Kher, Arshad Warsi, Aftab Shivdasani, Kunal Khemu, Tusshar Kapoor, Manoj Bajpayee, Anubhav Sinha, Bhumi Pednekar, John Abraham, and  Rahul Dev are among others who have mourned the death of the actor.
