Mukesh Khanna, who played the role of Bhishma Pitamah in BR Chopra’s Mahabharat, commented on the ongoing rerun of Ramayan and Mahabharat on the Doordarshan channel. He commented, saying that the rerun will help people like Sonakshi Sinha to gain knowledge of culture and literature. Mukesh Khanna took a dig on Sonakshi Sinha because a few months back, Sonakshi got trolled when she was unable to answer a question, for whom Lord Hanuman had got the Sanjeevanin Booti on Kaun Banega Crorepati show hosted by Amitabh Bachchan.
To this comment on Sonakshi by Mukesh Khanna, veteran actor Shatrughan Sinha came out to support his daughter and slammed Mukesh Khanna for his comments. He did not mention his name, but it was evident that he directed Mukesh Khanna when he said that he believes someone has a problem with his daughter, not answering the question of Ramayan. He asked, saying that what qualifies a person to be an expert in Indian mythology and who has appointed that person as the guardian of Hindu religion? He added, saying that he is very proud of his three children and pointed to Sonakshi saying that she has become a star without anyone’s help. He also said that not knowing about Ramayan does not disqualify her from being a good Hindu, and she does not need any certificate of qualification.
Mukesh Khanna defends himself by saying that his intentions were not to target her.
In defense of Shatrughan Sinha’s comment towards the blown comment of Mukesh Khanna, Mukesh Khanna withdraws, saying that his intentions were not to target his daughter Sonakshi Sinha. In a recent interview with Times of India, he said that people have created huge chaos in his comments and presented it wrongly to Shatruji, but he said that he has known him for a long time and respects him. He also said that he took an example of Sonakshi Sinha, and his intentions were not to demean her or target her. But he is shocked to see that today’s generation does not know Indian mythology and Hindu religion.
He continued to emphasize his point by saying that recently in a video, an IT student did not know that whose maternal uncle Kans was, and he answered Duryodhan to the question. He adds, saying that they must spread knowledge and introduce Hindu literature for today’s generation who are more interested in Tik Tok and Harry Potter. In the end, Mukesh Khanna says that if Shatruji thinks that taking Sonakshi’s name was a mistake, then he accepted the mistake and said that it was not intentional.
